Mercabarna Viva is an illustration developed from several on-site urban sketching sessions at Mercabarna. Through direct observation drawing, especially in the fish and vegetable areas, the project captures the rhythm, color, and human dimension of the market.
This entire process is synthesized into a single final image, conceived as a piece that represents its everyday energy.
The original was created using gouache, colored pencils, and mixed media techniques, also incorporating collage elements and textures.
Commissioned by Mercabarna’s communication department, the project took the form of a DIN A4 Christmas card. Part of the printed copies were manually reworked, becoming unique originals that Mercabarna gifted as an artist’s piece to celebrate the holiday season.
