See some examples of handmade sketchbooks and explore different drawing papers with dry, wet, grease, acrylic, mixed-media and collage techniques, among others. Next, plan how you want your sketchbook to look, from the size to the techniques and materials.
Time to get to work! Start by creating the central part of your book. Cut and fold the sheets, calculate and mark the stitches, and sew the paper. Then, glue the spine before placing the flyleaves and the extra sheets. Maru teaches you how to refine the edges and add reinforcing finishes.
Explore what fabrics and papers to use on the cover and flyleaves. Take measurements for the assembly, add the flyleaves, and glue the covers to the main body. Once finished, find out how to personalize your sketchbook to turn it into a work of art.

“Un cuaderno debe ser la continuidad de uno mismo”, según la pintora e ilustradora Maru Godàs. Por eso, en esta ocasión, te mostrará cómo crear, encuadernar y personalizar tu propio sketchbook. En sus cursos previos, enseñaba la técnica de gouache aplicada a la ilustración y el urban sketching, y en el segundo, cómo crear paisajes con pintura acrílica.
En este curso online aprenderás paso a paso a diseñar y confeccionar a mano tu cuadernosoñado, partiendo del formato, los colores, la tela o el tipo de papel. Maru te mostrará sus trucos para personalizar tu sketchbook y convertirlo en una obra de arte.
Maru empezará el curso contándote más sobre ella y sobre sus pasiones. Te hablará de su trayectoria y de cómo descubrió las posibilidades infinitas de trabajar en sus cuadernos.
Verás algunas referencias de sketchbooks hechos a mano y explorarás diferentes papeles para dibujar con técnicas secas, húmedas, grasas, acrílicas, mixtas y collage, entre otras. A continuación, planearás cómo será tu cuaderno, desde el tamaño hasta las técnicas y los materiales que usarás.
¡Manos a la obra! Empezarás a crear la tripa, es decir, la parte central. Cortarás y plegarás las hojas, calcularás y marcarás las puntadas y coserás los papeles. Entonces, pondrás cola en el lomo, antes de colocar las guardas y las hojas de cortesía. Maru te enseñará cómo refilar los cantos y añadir los acabados de refuerzo.
Seguidamente, explorarás qué telas y papeles usar en la cubierta y las guardas. Tomarás medidas para su montaje, añadirás las guardas y pegarás las cubiertas con la tripa. Una vez acabado, verás cómo personalizar tu cuaderno para convertirlo en una obra de arte.
